UPDATE
Beginners
In Concepts and Tools the author discusses various ways that new computer users are taught and suggests that teaching them concepts giving them a basic idea of what a computer does is more useful than teaching them detailed steps to accomplish something. Read it and see what he means.

Communications
In Outlook & Xobni, A Good Match the author describes an e-mail organizer Xobni which for you anagram freaks is Inbox spelled backwards. You need Outlook 2003 or 2007 to use Xobni. This new utility will allow you to organize your e-mails by several categories not normally available otherwise. Take a look. Maybe you'll like it.

In Wishy Washy Wireless Troubleshoot Wireless Network Connection Problems in a series of questions and answers the author responds to questions about wireless computing which many of you may find of interest.

In Security and Deleting Files: A Common Misconception the author points out something old timers have known for years. When you "delete" a file all that happens is the filename is marked so that it no longer shows up in the directory and the file is marked for future deletion
when the computer needs the disk space for something else. However the file is still there until the space it takes up is needed. The author tells you about this and other items you may not know.

Operating System
In Ubuntu & Linux Software, although he has written about this before, Brian Lewis describes more of his experiences w\in using Ubuntu Linux which may be of interest to those of you wishing to explore this version of Linux further. You may recall that we had a program on Ubuntu Linux about a year ago.

Hardware
In When to Turn Off Personal Computers the author discusses several steps you can take to cut down on electrical power use but tempers it with a few words about startup time and tha value of your own time spent waiting. Common sense should rule here.
