Hotmail Open up your Hotmail account and sign in and all that good stuff. Go to the top right hand side of the page and click on the Options menu. Now, click on the Mail icon and then choose Junk E-mail Protection. Under that section, you will find the Block Senders link; click on that. You will then be able to type in the e-mail address of the sender you would like to block and then click on Add. The address will then show up under the Block Sender List and you won't receive e-mail from them again. If you ever want to unblock them, just follow the same steps as above, highlight the address and click on Remove. You can then proceed to exchange e-mail with that person. Yahoo! Yahoo! users can just go into their main page and click on the Options link at the top. Once in there, look for the Block Addresses link. Type in the e-mail address you want to block and click on the Add Block button. It will tell you that any e-mails that comes from the addresses on the list will be deleted automatically, so you know for sure you won't have to deal with them again. If you ever want to unblock someone, just highlight the address and click on Remove Block. AOL The block sender area is a little harder to get to in AOL, but it is certainly doable. First, you have to get into your account where you can read your messages. Once in there, click on the Mail Options tab toward the top of the page. A pull down menu will appear and scroll down to there it says Block Unwanted Mail and click on that link. That will bring up another window titled Mail and Spam Controls. Go down to the bottom under Additional Spam Filters and click on Sender Filter. Yours may already be on, but if it's off, click on Edit. You will find some different choices there, but click on the blue link that says Use a Custom Sender List. This is where you can type in the e-mail addresses of the people you want to block. Once you type one in, click on the Add button and it will be taken to the lower box. When you're all done, click on Save at the bottom of the window. If you ever want to unblock an address, highlight it and click on the Remove button. |

Select Message/Block Sender... from the menu. Click Yes to have all existing messages from the blocked sender deleted from the current folder. Future messages are blocked even if you answer No to the question and keep existing messages. Outlook Express automatically adds the sender's address to the list of blocked senders. Note that this only works with POP accounts, though. Messages from blocked senders in IMAP or Hotmail accounts will not be moved to the Trash folder automatically. Unblocking in Outlook Express by Bob Thomson Tacoma Open Group for Microcomputers I checked out the Sender Blocking technique in Outlook Express and was surprised to discover that I was not given a Yes/No choice whether or not to block the highlighted sender. It just did it! Now what? How do I reinstate that sender if I didn't intend to block him? In Outlook Express 6 click on Tools/Message Rules. You will be given the choices Mail, News, Blocked Sender List. Click on Blocked Sender List. A window will open and any blocked senders names will be shown. Highlight the name you wish to remove from the list and click Remove. That Sender's e-mails will no longer be blocked. |
