UPDATE

Back To The Future?
Your editor uses past newsletter page formats as the basis for each future issue. Since date changes are not performed automatically, it is necessary, each month, to manually update the month and date shown on the page headers and meeting announcements. Last month members were told about a meeting to be held eight months earlier. Talk about living in the past! The August 2005 meeting was a good one but not that good! Sorry about that!

Wide Range of Subjects
Again this month we cover many different areas of personal computing. In the next column is a shortie telling you Beginners how to get out of a site that has disabled the BACK button. We don't have room to discuss all the articles in detail here but protectionof personal information and steps you can take to improve the performance of your machine are among the topics covered in the Communications section.

In the Operating System section Ray Mills has dug up some stuff on Adminstrator privileges that may save your bacon some day if you lose access to some of your files. This is followed by two articles about improving Windows performance through good housekeeping

The first of wo articles in the Hardware area discusses some of the signs of imminent hard disk failure--worth knowing and being aware of. The second article discusses several points relating to new high definition technology to consider when upgrading your monitor.

Finally, in the Software section. Brian Lewis reviews a PDF clone called PDFNitro. This is a program that can create and edit files in the PDF format and is considerably cheaper than the Adobe's Portable Document Format( PDF) files generating software.
