Seasonal Celebration There will be no formal program presentation at the December meeting. Members are encouraged to come and bring yuletide goodies to share with other members. Of course, current computing news items will be presented and discussed, the popular Question and Answer session will be held and any extended discussions of computer related topics will be welcomed. Come and enjoy this festive time with your fellow computer enthusiasts. |
Moon/Earth Fly Over The download described in the article "Fly Me To The Moon 0n a PC" took about 15 minutes with a Comcast high speed cable modem. Marginal for DSL and out-of-the-question for dial up. The site is fairly comprehensive but the images of the Moon and Earth, in the few minutes we took to look at it, lack the detail of Google Earth. For example, even though the article touted a general resolution to 50 feet--3 feet in the USA, your editor could not get good enough resolution to find his house with World Wind like he could with Google Earth (http://earth.google.com/) (11.2MB). Maybe he's missing something? Anyone know what? Upon expansion, both programs place an icon on your desktop. |
