Desperate for Data
Found on a Hollerith card at the ruins of the Tabulating Machine Company in the year 1924
Keep processing amid the noise and confusion, and remember where the Prompt is on the Sereen. As far as possible without Syntax Errors, turn on good Terminals with Acronyms. Seek your Truth with QUERTY on a CRT; and with a Leased Line to others, even the DOS and the Instructions; they too are in Storage. Avoid logging-on to artificial Programs, they are vexations to a Start-up. If you compile your Code with others, you may become vain and bitter. Encipher your Applications well on the LANs. Keep interested in your own Career whatever your Hardware, it is a real obsession with the Fortune 500s of our time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of Turkeys. But let this not blind you to what Virtual-memory there is; many persons strive for High Technology; and everywhere life is full of Handshaking. Be a little bit Selfish. Especially do not feign at Fetching.
Neither be cynical about Logic; for in the face of all Arithmetic and Data Processing, it is problematic like the Glitch. Type blindly on the Console for ycars, graphicly rendering the Thruput as Truth. Nurture Statistical Logic to shield you from stupid Middle Management, but do not Disk Crash your System while Initializing. Many Files are bombed by Fatigue and Loneliness. You are a Child of the UNIXverse, no lcss than the Logic Trees and the Star Configurations, you have a right to sit there. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the Market is developing as it should. Therefore be at peace with the Giver Of Data, whatever you conceive It to be, and whatever your Lasers, and whatever your ASCII Recursions, in the noisy ambiant of the Lab, keep your P.C. under control. Witn all it's RAM Drudgery and Blinking Lignts, it is still a beautiful Workstation. Be careful. Stand by your P.C.!
